NI Freelancers (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What data we collect

Freelancers (registered users)

  • Name, email address, and password (via Supabase Auth)
  • Profile information: bio, skills, location, availability, portfolio images
  • Payment information (processed by Stripe — we never see your card details)
  • IP address and browser information for security purposes

Businesses and visitors (no account required)

  • Analytics data: pages visited, time on site, device type (via privacy-respecting analytics if enabled)
  • Any information you voluntarily provide if you email us

How we use your data

  • To create and manage your freelancer profile
  • To process your subscription payment via Stripe
  • To send transactional emails: profile approval, payment receipts, subscription notices
  • To review and moderate profiles for quality and compliance
  • To improve the directory and understand how it's used

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.

Third-party services

We use the following services to operate the platform:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting
  • Stripe — payment processing (their privacy policy applies to payment data)
  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Vercel — website hosting and infrastructure

Each of these providers is GDPR-compliant and operates under appropriate data processing agreements.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies required to keep you logged in and to maintain your session securely. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain records for legal or tax purposes.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict how we process your data
  • Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
